Applicability Boundary — Definition

Status: Concept definition (non-claim)

Applicability Boundary describes the point at which a system may continue to operate correctly or remain formally compliant, yet the assumptions that make its operation meaningful no longer hold.

Beyond this boundary, behaviour may still appear valid, but the operational mode has lost legitimacy with respect to the environment in which the system operates.

Applicability boundaries therefore describe limits of explanatory validity rather than limits of behavioural correctness.
